Chemparaky & Aroor in English

           AROOR - ST.L.MURIALDO SEMINARY

ST.L.MURIALDO SEMINARY of Aroor, India, has this year forty students. The Indian students enter the seminary after the tenth year of school, they are about 15 years old, or older and have passed the examinations of the compulsory curriculum. In India there are many young people who feel called to become priests and religious.

The first year of the study is called the year of initiation, or the year of spirituality. The year is devoted exclusively to training and preparing for the priesthood and religious life, that is a year to know and live the life of seminarians. The classes are located within the Seminary and include: English, study methodology, Italian, Hindi, an introduction to the Bible, prayer and spiritual life of San Leonardo Murialdo. This first year helps to clarify an discern students vocation to verify if this is the road that they want to walk in their life. This first year also gives trainers the opportunity to know and evaluate candidates

 .
In the next two years students attend classes at the nearby Catholic school. The first year is called Plus 1 and the second one Plus 2, that is the eleventh and twelfth year of school, which is virtually the Italian school. At the end of the Plus 2 state examination opens the door to university with the baccillierato. In our seminar in the Plus 2young people make their postulant-period and the preparation for the novitiate. The beginning of the premise occurs around October 26, which is the birthday of our founder San Leonardo Murialdo and is to be near half time of the school year that runs from June to March. This year 10 young people will start their study as postulants.

CHEMPARAKY - ST.  JOSEPH'S SEMINARY

           CHEMPARAKY - ST. Joseph's Seminary

The Major Seminary "scholasticate St. Joseph" is in Chemaparaky, is about 37kilometers far from Aroor. There, young students have a year of novitiate and three years of philosophy, before making their theological studies that will prepare them for the priesthood. This year the novices are 7 while  22 are professed with temporary vows.

The priestly and religious vocation is a gift of God, perseverance in the vocation is the result of grace and freedom of every person, then the prayer is a necessary requirement. In the Gospel Jesus says:"Pray to the Lord of the harvest so that He send laborers into his harvest," and prayer for vocations is a daily duty of all of us, but also an help because many young people in research or in vocational training path can continue with joy and serenity in the same way.
