EJISU GHANA

We Josephites arrived in Ghana 10 years ago. What brought us in this country was the tense situation which affected Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau at that time. We wanted to find a quiet environment for the formation of our students.

We passed the first 4 years in a uncomfortable house, hired in Ejisu town. Now, we are in a pleasant new building which is open, beautified by many flowers in neat grounds.

Fr Luigi, with Fr Eric and Fr Mark, are the ones responsible of the formation of 7 novices and 12 young Josephites.

Our students, together with those of other Congregations, are attending a course of philosophy at the nearby University, run by the Spiritan Fathers.

Our confreres are also involved in several pastoral activities. They animates the youth of the local parish and the young students of the secondary schools. They go even to the suburbs of the town to assit needy boys.

A meaningful vocation activity is going on. Even young men from Nigeria are involved. The activity is called “Come and see”. It creates occasions of discernment for future vocation.

Recently, our Murialdo House became the seat of the Delegation of Africa (if the Delegate is around!).

Of course, our community of Ejisu is the center…of many of our hopes.

MURIALDO BOYS

Every day, during week ends and during holiday time, we have at home a dozen boys aged between 11 and 20. Their parents are absent”. We consider them our little brothers. We help them with their schooling, we work together, we laugh together. They help us with our home chores and in the garden.

STUDENT ASSOCIATION

Almost weekly, we meet students belonging to 4 Secondary School of the District: Ejisuman, Ejisu Sec. Tech., Bonwire and Juaben. We help them to draw up quarterly and yearly plans of activities. With them we organize forums, recollection days, outings and recreational entertainment. More than 300 students are involved in their activities. Bit by bit, we are trying to involve also their teachers and parents.

YOUNG ANIMATORS

We have a monthly formation meeting with around 50 adolescents. They reach the number of 130 during the summer activity organized for the children of the town. The summer activity is familiarly called “Ejisu-sere” (Ejisu laughs). During the meeting we try to cover topics related to their age: school, health, sex education, discipline, traditions,..

CATHOLIC ASSOCIATIONS AND PARISH ACTIVITY

We are involved in youth animation in our Parish and in 4 outstations: at Besease, Krapa, Kwamo, Owne. We help the Catholic Youth Association and other groups attached to the Parish. Our seminarians are also present in the Deanery organizations. They try to animate their own companions and the diocesan seminarians. We are in good term with catechists, adults and local priests.
